Lowick In Bloom

'The Lowick in Bloom Association' is in the process of readying our village for entry in 'Britain In Bloom 2009' and requests the support of local residents.  A series of fundraising events have already been held and others are to be arranged to enable the purchase of hanging baskets, tubs, window boxes and plants that residents can volunteer to display and maintain on their premises.  Raffle tickets will also be on sale at The Black Bull Inn, Lowick, and The Lowick Village Store at various times throughout the year.

Donations can be made at The Black Bull Inn, Lowick or by contacting Anne Marriner, Tel: 01289 388221 or Margaret Souter, Tel: 01289 388457, who can also provide information on the project.

S.O.U.L. NEWS ~ SAVE OUR UNSPOILED LANDSCAPE

Foreign wind farm developers Catamount Energy and Force9 have appealed against our Local Council's refusal to grant planning permission for their proposed wind farms at Barmoor, Moorsyde and Toft Hill.  The results of a Public Enquiry, held at The Maltings, Berwick upon Tweed is now awaited.

Don't allow our beautiful countryside to be unnecessarily and permanently defaced so that a bunch of uncaring, mercenary FOREIGN pariahs can get richer at our expense.

Please add your support to S.O.U.L. & M.A.G.

Closure of Lowick Post Office

The Sub-Post Office in the Lowick Village Store has been closed as a cost cutting measure by Post Office Ltd on the basis it was profitable and the existing available business would therefore make a mobile service, which is supposedly cheaper to run, financially viable.  The mobile 'Outreach Service' will operate from The White Swan car park and will visit the village at the following times:

Monday & Wednesday ~ 9am - 10.30pm
Tuesday ~ 11am - 12.30pm
Thursday & Friday ~ 10.30am - 12.30pm
