The White Swan Inn, Lowick Village ~ New Owners

The White Swan Inn has changed ownership and is in the process of being refurbished.  The new Bar is complete, with a separate area for the Pool Table and Darts.  Work is currently being carried out in the old bar area to create a small comfortable Lounge and Dining Room.  The White Swan will remain open for business throughout.

Lowick In Bloom

Northumbria in Bloom Gold Medal Winner ~ 2010 - 2011

After four years of hard work by The Lowick in Bloom Association, local residents and several local business sponsors, Lowick Village has been awarded The Northumbria In Bloom Gold Medal for 2010 and 2011.

Fundraising events will continue to enable the ongoing purchase and maintenance of hanging baskets, tubs, window boxes and plants, most of which, residents can volunteer to display and maintain on their premises.

Raffle tickets will be on sale in The Lowick Village Store, The White Swan Inn and The Black Bull Inn  and donations can be made by contacting any of the committee members.

Lowick in Bloom in conjunction with Lowick Parish Council are requesting volunteers to ensure that none of our vulnerable and/or elderly residents suffer unnecessary hardship.  If you are able to assist with emergency transport (4x4 vehicles), collection or delivery of prescriptions, or call in to check on elderly neighbours, please contact one of the following:

Lowick Community Orchard

Northumbria in Bloom Gold Medal Winner for Best Conservation Project

Grow your own Apples, Plums and Pears and/or Sponsor or Dedicate a Tree in The Lowick Community Orchard.  The land has been donated by Karen Burn of Hunting Hall Farm, to the east of Lowick Village, and will comprise 11/2 acres of Heritage Fruit Trees to be Cared for and Harvested by Local People.

Lowick Village Store

Lynsey Pitman recently took over The Lowick Village Store, which has now been refurbished and has a new, spacious layout.

The store carries a wide range of Quality, Sensibly Priced General Groceries, Fresh Bread & Cakes, Fresh Fruit & Vegetables, Freshly Delivered Butcher Meats, Wines & Spirits, and Newspapers & Magazines.

Freshly made Bacon Rolls, Sandwiches, Coffee and Teas are available "To-Go".

A dry cleaning service is available and the store is a 'Collection Point' for Prescriptions from Belford Surgery.

Daily Opening Times

Monday to Saturday:  7.15am - 5.30pm
Sunday:   7.45am - 1.00pm

Lowick Movie Night

The Lowick Film Club meet to watch a movie ten times per year in Lowick Village Hall.  The meetings are from 7.30pm ~ 9.30pm on the 1st Tuesday in the month.  Annual membership is £15.00 and covers all ten meetings.  Guest membership is £2.00 per meeting.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The mobile 'Outreach Service'  operates from The White Swan car park at the following times:

Monday & Wednesday ~ 9am - 10.30pm
Tuesday ~ 11am - 12.30pm
Thursday ~ 10.30am - 12noon
Friday ~ 10.30am - 12.30pm

Lowick Mobile Library

The Lowick Mobile Library will visit Lowick on every three weeks on a Friday on 10th February and 23rd March 2012.  The current timing and locations are:

Black Bull Inn Car Park ~ 12.05pm - 12.15pm
Lowick School ~ 1.25pm - 2.10pm
Kyloe View ~ 2.20pm - 3.00pm
White Swan Inn Car Park ~ 3.05pm - 3.25pm  

From April the visits will be every two weeks, but the day could be changed.

Pub Quiz - The White Swan Inn, Lowick Village

A Pub Quiz and Raffle to raise funds for a variety of local charities and projects are held in The White Swan Inn, Lowick Village, from 8pm on the second Thursday of every month.  Everyone is welcome.  Entry: £1 per person.

Valentine's Night ~ 14th February and Valentine's Weekend ~ Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February 2012.  Candlelit Table with Red Roses and a Passionate Menu.

St. Patrick's Day ~ Saturday 17th March 2012.  An Irish themed Menu with Singing and Dancing to help you 'Let Your Hair Down'.

The Geoff Allan Fish & Chip Van

Excellent fish and chips can be had from Geoff Allan's Fish & Chip van, which visits Lowick Village every Wednesday evening.  It starts serving at 6.30pm at Kyloe View, which is at the east end of the village, moving to Phillips Place at around 7.30pm and then parking opposite Bookless Motors from about 8pm - 8.30pm.

Lowick Village Hall

Lowick Village Hall has been completely refurbished and a number of activities and meetings are now held on a regular basis.

Lowick Baby and Toddler Group

'Souper' Saturdays
'Souper' Saturdays are run by Reverend Victor Dickinson in Lowick Village Hall on the second Saturday of each month from 12noon - 1.30pm with home-made soup, a bun, tea or coffee and cake for £3.00.  Everyone is welcome and young children eat for free.

The Lowick Heritage Group:

Zumba Classes
Zumba classes are held in Lowick Village Hall from 11am - 12noon every Monday morning.

Pilates classes are held in Lowick Village Hall from 7.15pm until 8.15pm every Wednesday evening.

Art Classes

Lowick Community Lunches
Lunches are served at Lowick School between 11.30am and 12.30pm each Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school term.  £2.60 for a Two Course Meal.

French Language Classes

Lowick Pre-School

Lowick Pre-School is open 5 mornings a week from from 8.30am ~ 11.30am, during school term, to children aged 21/2 - 5 years of age, with extended sessions available on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays until 12.25pm (subject to age) when children can stay for lunch with either their own packed lunch or a school lunch.  Louise is the Pre-School Leader.

Stay and Play sessions for Pre-School children and babies, accompanied by their parents/carers, are held each Tuesday from 11.45am ~ 1.15pm.  This provides the opportunity for parents/carers to meet the staff in an enjoyable and sociable atmosphere and allows the children to meet other children in a setting that is ideally situated within Lowick First School.
