In Bloom ~ Northumbria In Bloom Silver Medallist After two years of hard work by The Lowick in Bloom Association, local residents and several local business sponsors, Lowick Village has been awarded The Northumbria In Bloom Silver Medal. The award was presented to Anne Waite and Penny Bailey by Professor Higgins. The Lowick In Bloom Committee would like to congratulate the people of Lowick Village and express their thanks to everyone who who made this achievement possible. A further series of fundraising events will be arranged to enable the ongoing purchase and maintenance of hanging baskets, tubs, window boxes and plants, most of which, residents can volunteer to display and maintain on their premises. This year a number of borders are to be created throughout the village with sustainable planting that will require plants that grow no higher than approximately 2½ feet. Raffle tickets will be on sale at The Black Bull Inn, Lowick, and The Lowick Village Store at various times throughout the year. Donations can be made at The Black Bull Inn, Lowick, or by contacting any of the committee members. Lowick Lunches at Lowick Village School Lunches are served to our elderly residents at 11.45am each Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school term. £2.60 for a Two Course Meal. "Souper" Saturdays at Lowick Village Hall Souper Saturdays are run by Reverend Victor Dickinson in Lowick Village Hall on the second Saturday of each month from 12noon - 2pm with home-made soup, a bun, tea or coffee and cake for £3.00. Lowick Village Store The Lowick Village Store provides a wide range of quality, sensibly priced general groceries, fresh bread & cakes, fruit & vegetables, freshly delivered butcher meats, wines & spirits and newspapers & magazines. & Wednesday ~ 9am - 10.30pm Lowick Pre-School Lowick Pre-School is open 5 mornings a week from from 8.30am ~ 11.00am, during school term, to children aged 2-5 years with extended sessions available on Wednesdays and Fridays until 12.25pm when children can stay for lunch with either their own packed lunch or a school lunch. Stay and Play sessions for Pre-School children and babies, accompanied by their parents/carers, are held each Tuesday from 11.15am ~ 12.45pm. This provides the opportunity for parents/carers to meet the staff in an enjoyable and sociable atmospere and allows the children to meet other children in a setting that is ideally situated within Lowick First School.
